Students in Mrs. Amanda O’Brien’s Human Physiology and AP Biology classes rally once again around a little boy with a big heart. The students collected items and a monetary donation over $500 for the Ronald McDonald House. Nearly 3 years ago, students began raising funds and awareness for the American Heart Association in the name of Jack Scarfo, a pint-sized, proud heart survivor. This year Jack’s Mom, Lisa Scarfo organized a drive for the Ronald McDonald House to honor Jack and his brother, Nathan’s 5th birthday. The students were eager to get involved. The drive started amongst friends, but reached out further into the community than Lisa could have imagined. One former student, now a sophomore at King’s University, Courtney Zuckoski organized her own successful drive on campus. Many schools throughout the Scranton School District hosted drives.
