Resources for Educators
Jack of Hearts-Pa, Inc. will be sponsoring and participating in many exciting events throughout the school year and would love to have your students included! These are great opportunities to have younger students learn about volunteering and giving back, and for older students to obtain community service hours from a local organization. The following are some examples of events we have planned, and ones we hope to coordinate in the future.
Elementary Schools
- 100th day of school donation drives (our 2018 effort benefited the Scranton Ronald McDonald House)
- Jump Rope for Heart (to benefit the American Heart Association)
- Dress-down days (to benefit Jack of Hearts-PA, Inc., where funds raised will directly support families of children with CHDs)
Intermediate and High Schools
- Supply drives for supported organizations (such as the RMH or CHOP’s CardiacCenter)
- CPR Certification Opportunities for health and physical education classes
- Extra credit ideas for anatomy and biology teachers (including recommended reading, suggested movies and research papers relating to CHD and cardiacsurgery)
- Volunteer opportunities at events (Ex: the AHA Heart Walk)
